Modern Times are a-coming

E-mail PDF
Modern Times is out !

Favorite songs so far: Working Man's Blues #2,Nettie Moore and Ain't talkin'. Not too fond of the more uptempo blues stuff, it all sounds a bit too much alike. And stuff like Beyond the horizon, well we've heard that by now. Same kinda songs as on Love and Theft. The band is nothing special either, just the same people he's been touring with for ages now. But the 2 songs mentioned above are worth the price of admission ;).

Apparently there were already copies floating around on the internet. Since promo copies were sent out probably as early as a week or so ago, this is not surprising though some media sources found it necessary to bring this as 'news'. Radio2 in Holland has been playing the album regularly, and I heard some slower songs I really liked. I am not big on the rockabilly-style songs, but they werent too bad either.

There is now a review on the rolling stone site, make sure to check it out !

In sound and feel, Modern Times recalls the kind of music working bands--Muddy Waters' bluesmen or Hank Williams' Drifting Cowboys--would cut on the fly between gigs, a mixture of unique inventions and variations on hand-me-downs touched by the leader's genius.
